When Trump threatens a suit, no one should even be surprised any more. On Feb. 20, The Hollywood Gossip reported that real estate mogul is thinking about suing the man behind the "Dump Trump" campaign. A man named Angelo Carusone organized the campaign which has gathered nearly 65,000 signatures of people who want Macy's to "fire" Donald Trump so that his items would no longer be sold in the department store.
This has been ongoing for quite a few months and now -- just weeks before the new season of "The Apprentice" is set to air -- Trump is thinking about filing a lawsuit. Surprise, surprise.
So Trump threatens this suit, sending Carusone a cease and desist request. The paperwork shows that Trump is prepared to file a $25M lawsuit if Carusone doesn't obey. The Donald means business. According to THG, Trump is claiming that Carusone is "interfering in Trump's business and contractual relationships." Perfect grounds for a major lawsuit.
Donald Trump has been throwing the word "lawsuit" around quite a bit lately. As previously reported, he threatened to sue Bill Maher after a joke was made on "The Tonight Show." So far, no lawsuit has been filed and the beef that the two men had has been swept under the (super-expensive oriental) rug.
The suit that Trump threatens has not swayed Carusone in the least bit. "Donald Trump's attempt to silence me will not work. I've dealt with enough bullies and know better than to succumb to intimidation. By threatening me, Trump is only reinforcing our point: that Trump's 'brand' is consequence-free bullying and chicanery; it shouldn't be rewarded," Carusone said in a statement.
