True Blood: Suicide bombers and sexual subtext

This episode starts with an explosion, which is surprisingly ineffective. Luke blows himself up, and doesn't even kill any named characters.

By the way, it's absolutely hilarious how this show goes from the seriousness of a suicide bombing to a twist where Eric tricks Sookie into sucking bullets out of his body, and the sexual subtext that entails.

After the big blowup, pun intended, we've got the ground laid for more bad blood between Bill and Eric, and also an end to any hope of a ceasefire between the vampire nation and the Fellowship of the Sun.

With three episodes left to go in the season, it looks like we're going to send the focus of the show back to Bon Temps, where Maryann pretty much rules the town.

By the way, the only two people in Bon Temps that she doesn't seem to affect are shapeshifter Sam, and drunken former detective Andy Bellefleur. Is Andy just too drunk for Maryann to reach with her powers, or is he hiding something else?

Maryann seems to be controlling the town and leading everyone in a symphony of orgies and violence. Man, that's going to be hard to get people to rise up against. That's like asking people to sign a petition against free beer.
