Best known for the gullible, blond, over-sexed southern hunk "Jason Stackhouse" on the hit HBO series True Blood, Ryan Kwanten has catapulted recently into international stardom. The truth be that he could probably have his pick of any upcoming movie roles, but instead, the Aussie has returned to his roots to embrace a new indie superhero project from the yet unknown director Leon Ford. Entitled Griff the Invisible, the film is touted as a romantic comedy about a quiet, reserved office drone who just so happens to transform into a crime-fighting superhero when the sun goes down.
According to the Australian online publication the Herald Sun the project was one that really touched Kwanten, inspiring him to take a break from America to make the long journey home. "This film was something that went straight to my core," Kwanten said, who has been in Australia for the past month working on the set of Griff.
Globe-trotting actor Kwanten returns to the U.S. on Thanksgiving to being shooting the much anticipated third season of True Blood. No doubt the release of Griff the Invisible, which is scheduled to debut in 2010, will be one project which True Blood fans will keep a close eye on.
