What do you get when a hunky werewolf tests his strength against a former talk show host? Exercise entertainment, as demonstrated by "True Blood" Joe Manganiello and Regis Philbin during the Dec. 9 episode of Rachael Ray's cooking show.
Joe shared tips from his new fitness book: "Evolution: The Cutting Edge Guide to Breaking Down Mental Walls and Building the Body You've Always Wanted" (click for details). Petite Rachael looked impressed as Joe explained that he believes anyone can build a better body by following his guidelines:
- Believe in yourself and the power of mind over matter (or, in this case, mind over muscle).
- Set attainable goals and increase the complexity regularly.
- Schedule in your workouts to succeed.
- Follow a high protein diet that consists of mini meals eaten throughout the day.
In a game of hunky hotties, co-host Regis and Rachael invited Joe to play a “High Striker”-inspired game of “Show Joe's Muscles.” Joe answered questions from viewers while showing off his muscles.
But Regis was not to be bested: He demonstrated his own power in a game. The demonstration was particularly impressive in light of the fact that Regis previously underwent triple-bypass surgery. Since then, he's been staying on a diet featuring fish and greens, according to People magazine.
And, as he proved to Joe and Rachael, Regis has regained his strength.
"Every day I do get stronger," he said after his surgery. "That's the key to this whole thing. Keep walking."
