“Fire in the Hole” is the July 6 episode of “True Blood.” If you haven’t seen the episode, beware of spoilers! “True Blood” airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. central on HBO.

Hello Eric flashback. I always enjoy our trips to the past, but this one I’m not too sure about. Yes, it shows how many times Eric has lost someone he loves. But seeing as how this is the finale season and we have Hep V vampires dying and attacking people, you would think the focus of the episodes would be on that. We don’t really fall in love with Eric and Sylvie, but it is heartbreaking to see Eric have to choose, even though we all know he picks Pam.

There are two other storylines that don’t really serve any purpose. Lettie Mae’s addiction pops back up again, but at least this time we focus on the Reverend. It’s better than watching Lettie Mae search for Tara. The other storyline is Lafayette and James. They do drugs, again, and we learn that James has feelings for Lafayette. Okay, that’s great. It really wasn't interesting or excited. They were just there lounging around. Are you a fan of either of these two storylines?

Sarah Newlin! I have missed your crazy self. There was some concern at the beginning when the show opened up in a weird yoga studio nowhere near Bon Temps. Sarah is one of those characters that you just love to hate. It’s great that she is being brought back in to give Eric a will to live. I look forward to seeing her meet up with him and Pam again. The TruBlood company hit men guys are after her, which I guess is because she contaminated their stock and put them out of business. Are you glad she is back?

Oh Alcide, why do bad things have to happen to kind-hearted, gorgeous people? Sadly his character has gotten the short end of the stick for a while now. He had that entire season where he was basically off on his own, boring show. His character had potential. I thought maybe this season would be his time to shine now that most of the cast is fighting the Hep V war. We could have had Alcide bring in some werewolves to help fight and everything. Instead, he gets killed by some random person in a tree. I mean at least let him go out by getting killed by some big bad.

What did you think of the episode? Did you love Sam’s conversation with the Reverend? Any theories on why Jessica isn't healing? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below.
