The trucker protest slated to roll through the nation’s capital for three consecutive days this weekend is called “bizarre” by Fox News, and once you take a gander at what the protestors are protesting, you may agree. This trucker protest doesn’t pinpoint gas prices, which is the usual obstacle for the trucking business, it is protesting all the “things that are destroying America,” according to Fox News on Oct. 8.’
“Truckers Ride for the Constitution” aims at clogging up the beltway around the nation’s capital during this three-day weekend. They claim to be 3,000 rigs strong and they are trying to attract participants to ride with them, according to what they have posted on their Facebook page:
"Truck drivers will not haul freight! ... Truckers will lead the path to saving our country if every American rides with them!"
If their protest goes off as planned, it might not be the best weekend to visit the D.C. area. They plan to drive “three lanes deep” around and around to clog up the works on the Capital Beltway. The list of grievances is long and basically contains everything except the kitchen sink!
The protest is aiming to fix: Wages, gas prices and federal regulations on their industry. The group is also upset over the debt this country has accumulated and they don’t like the National Security Agency's surveillance practices.
Unfortunately, the self-proclaimed spokesperson of the group, Earl Conlon, has some of the other truckers challenging his authority to speak for them. Conlon stepped up and claimed that they are aiming to have members of Congress arrested. “We’re coming in with the grand jury to do it,” Conlon declares. They're going after the members who have “violated their oath of office.” It is not known which members of Congress he is referring to.
Apparently reports that Conlon decided to cancel the trucker protest have been circulating, but this was quickly addressed by the organizers of this upcoming rolling roadblock. The trucker protest goes on as planned, according to The Inquisitr in an update.
If you don’t have a sticker on your vehicle supporting the truckers, you won’t be able to pass this rolling roadblock that is slated to start on Friday. Colon has threatened that the truckers will lock up their brakes right there on the roadway if cops give them a hard time. “We’re going to be a three-lane roadblock, claims Conlon.
In steps Greg Ellis, who is a supporter of the campaign, said Conlon does not speak for the group and also denied the claim that they are looking to have members of Congress arrested.
When Fox asked another spokesperson of this trucker protest, Peter Santilli, to describe the purpose of the event he replied:
"One of our demands is NON-NEGOTIABLE: President Obama must be removed from office for crimes against the United States and all unconstitutional executive orders nullified. How that is accomplished legally is for the legal and constitutional experts to determine."
Using the word “bizarre” to describe this trucker protest is understandable, as it sounds as if no one is quite sure what the protest is targeting. It sounds as if there may be some problems if motorists want to pass this 3,000 rig-strong protest, without some type of sacred sticker.
While most truckers associated with this protest describe it as a “peaceful demonstration” giving motorists a tough time if they happen into this thing sounds as if it could be a recipe for disaster.
