Daytona Beach firefighters were called to the area of Bayless Boulevard and Fentress Boulevard Tuesday morning after a garbage truck caught on fire. Daytona Beach Fire Department spokesperson Lt. Larry Stoney says firefighters arriving on the scene around 9 a.m. found the cab of the truck engulfed in fire, but were able to control the blaze within minutes. Firefighters complete extinguished the fire by “…flooding the [truck’s] cab and garbage holding area with water.” Crews said the driver of the Waste Pro garbage truck told them he was turning into a restaurant parking lot when he heard “…a loud pop and then [saw] flames coming from under the cab.” The driver of the truck was not injured, and no businesses were threatened during the incident.
