One person was seriously injured in a fiery wrong-way wreck that caused three lanes to be closed on I-75 for a few hours Monday. And officials said the wreck was allegedly caused by a drunk driver.

The wreck happened shortly before 2:45 a.m. on I-75 southbound near the Sardis Church Road off ramp, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said Arthur Donnell Rolack, 49, of Warner Robins, was driving a back 2013 Toyota Camry north in the southbound lanes when he collided head on with a 2012 Volvo 730 tractor-trailer that was heading south.

The tractor-trailer caught fire, damaging the frozen food being hauled and the driver, 40-year-old Quentin Thomas, of Tennessee, was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia to be treated for burns and other injuries, the sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Sean DeFoe said. He was in stable condition late Monday, officials said.

Investigators said Rolack was under the influence of alcohol and that he did not have his headlights on at the time of the wreck. He was arrested on several charges including: DUI; driving the wrong way on roadway; driving without headlights at night; serious injury by motor vehicle, and driving with a suspended license, DeFoe said.

The three left lanes of I-75 southbound at Sardis Church Road were closed while cleanup crews remove the debris from the road way, DeFoe said. It's unclear how long it took to clear the road and there were no reports of anyone else being injured in the early morning wreck.
