Rachel "Starla" Bradshaw has been pleasing patrons at Milano, Provence and Milano North. Now she's doing it at one of the more innovative places in the Capital Region.
The move should make up for the loss of most baked goods from Sweet Sue's Treatery after bakery owner Susan Dunckel found the growth of her fledgling business demanding more of her time. Lucas does continue carrying her truffles.
Bradshaw, a native of Alaska who now lives in Troy and reputedly is a major "Dr. Who" fan, is known for her unusual creations. She also makes many of her own ingredients, such as marshmallows, corn syrup, graham crackers, vanilla extract and the like.
Among upcoming offerings will be gelatos, sorbets and such baked goods as biscotti, scones, cookies and oatmeal pies.
Lucas is located downtown at 12 Second Street, just off Monument Square. Phone: (518) 326-3450.
