Troy Polamalu is cutting his hair on Veteran's Day dubbing it a “ceremonial haircut.” He hasn't had a haircut in over ten years but he believes it's for a worthy cause and wants you to join him. The Pittsburgh Steelers' safety is daring others to cut their hair on Veteran's Day to benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Mane Event, according to his Facebook page on Thursday (Sept. 19).
Polamalu is known for his locks as his own personal trademark in the NFL but few know of his advocacy for veterans. Previously, he has been involved in VFW charitable causes and according to the Stars and Stripes, he also helped found the Harry Panos Fund for Veterans which is the eponym of his wife's grandfather who served in World War II.
Public awareness for charitable causes receives great attention when supported by high profile figures or celebrities. Therefore, the VFW Mane Event organizers are anticipating Polamalu's endorsement to gain additional awareness for the veterans.
