Troy Library Bookstore is the Best

Saving money is a common New Year's resolution. One easy way to save money is to look for cheap entertainment.

The Troy Library Bookstore operated by the Friends of the Library is the best place to buy used books and DVDs.

Part of it is the selection: it's vast.

A particular strength is the children's department. One woman shopper, who comes from outside of Troy, said she comes to buy books for her son, as, "The price is so much cheaper than scholastic." For homeschoolers, the children's department offers a large number of workbooks and teacher reproducibles (books of worksheets that can be copied).

Books are in good condition. Anything that is not in tip top condition, is put on the free table on the main library level.

Another reason why the Troy Library Bookstore is so popular is the prices. Generally, paperbacks and magazines are .50, with current magazine issues and hardcovers are a dollar. But some items can be more expensive.

They also have a nice selection of CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes.

The library is located on the lower level of the library, accessible in the children's area. The hours are Saturday from 10 -1, and Sunday from 1-4 Only cash and checks are accepted.
