Troubled financial times has led to an increase need for good homes for many horses.

Many lucky horses find safe haven in one of the currently operating equine rescues. Many nationwide have been forced to close due to lack of sponsorship and donations.
Many young, healthy horses end up in auctions with a doomed fate ahead of them. Many of them were shipped to Canada for the slaughter process. Current news tells us that Canada will no longer accept horses from the United States due to new rules and regulations their country will be enforcing. It is good news. However, it will put an increased demands on the equine rescues that are currently operating.
Reputable rescues operate with hard working, dedicated management and volunteers. They rely heavily on donations. The next time you come across an equine rescue take time to see if you can help with any of their needs. Financial donations are always appreciated. In lieu of that you can consider donating supplies or possibly your time to help in fundraising or caring for the horses.
