Tropical plant sale and orchid class

On Saturday, March 2, 2013, the Friends of Manito will have two events at the park.

At 10:00 a.m., Mary Wall and Dr. Doug Corpron will present ‘Easy to Grow Exquisite Orchids’, a free class on this exotic looking plant. Commonly thought to be difficult, this brother and sister team will show how easy they really are. They will demonstrate propagation, planting, and caring for the various types of orchids. Together they have 80 years of orchid experience and Dr. Corpron has won several awards and taught many seminars on orchids.

The class will be held in the Manito Meeting room; seating is limited so please call 509-456-8038 for reservations.

Following the lecture, from 11:30 to 2:00 p.m., The Friends of Manito will have their annual tropical plant sale in the polyhouse. Among the amazing selection offered will be orchids, aloes, agaves, dramatic elephants ears and a banana plant that is root hardy in our area! There will be lots of unusual plants, and pre-planted decorative containers which can be grown inside and transitioned outside as spring comes.
