Tropical holiday decor made easy

See also

This time of year decorating switches into high gear as our homes and neighborhoods come alive with bright lights and colorful ornaments. Traditionally, Christmas décor has focused on the colors of red, green, silver and gold. However, little or nothing about Christmas in Florida is traditional. There are no white Christmases, the smell of pine is missing and the usual woodland décor looks a little out of place. Thankfully, bringing a festive tropical look to a Florida home has gotten easier as the available color schemes and ornament selections have moved beyond red and green.

Creating a tropical look couldn’t be more fun either. Opt for seashells, brightly colored glass balls, white lights and beach themed ornaments to hang on the tree, whether it is an artificial or real pine tree or perhaps a potted palm tree. Santa in board shorts would be a whimsical idea. Finish the tree with garland made from seashells or decorative ribbon in a complementary color scheme.
