A West Islip woman was arrested in upstate Chenango County after police said she was allegedly driving while high on drugs when she was stopped by a state trooper in Norwich, according to an April 7 news advisory.

Authorities said Jacqueline M. Kane, 35, was booked at the Chenango County Jail on a charge of driving while ability impaired by drugs.

According to police, Kane was pulled over Friday along State Route 12 in Norwich and state troopers needed to call an ambulance during the traffic stop to take her to a local hospital.

“An investigation determined that she was driving while her ability was impaired by drugs,” police said Monday in announcing Kane’s arrest.

Police also said Kane refused a blood test at the hospital and was arraigned after she was released from the medical center.

Kane was held overnight Friday at the Chenango County Jail, but posted a $2,500 bond on Saturday, according to jail records.

She is due back in court on April 17.
