Korey Duff, 28, was arrested Oct. 8 and charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana – a misdemeanor.
State Police in the Riverside barracks said they stopped a white Hyundai just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, because the car was allegedly speeding along Route 25 in Riverhead.
As a trooper began to interview the driver, the law enforcement officer noticed an odor of marijuana emanating from the car, a news release said. After conducting a search of the vehicle, authorities recovered 129 grams of marijuana.
Officials said Duff, who was a front seat passenger, claimed the drugs belonged to him. He was arrested at the scene and later released on an appearance ticket.
He will be arraigned Oct. 30 at the Riverhead Town Court.
