The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the sports entertainment giant, ESPN, plans on showing a 3-D broadcast of the USC at Ohio State matchup on September 12th.
While the 3-D showings will be in a limited capacity, there are a number of locations at which fans can go and take part in this fascinating experience. In Los Angeles, Trojan faithful will have an opportunity to view the 3-D broadcast at the Galen Center as well as the ESPN Zone at LA Live.
For those Trojan fans outside of California, three other theaters across the country will be broadcasting the game in 3-D including locations in Columbus, Ohio; Hartford, Connecticut; as well as Hurst, Texas.
The 3-D experience is nothing new to the game of football. Last year, an NFL match up between the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders was broadcast in 3-D (albeit in limited capacity). The 2008 BCS title game was also given the 3-D treatment in select theaters throughout the country.
The company responsible for producing the 3-D broadcast of the San Diego/Oakland game was none other than 3ality Digital. It would be wise to remember the name 3ality Digital in the future because it seems that the 3-D game experience is catching on and, with the ongoing development of their new technology, they could in fact revolutionize how America watches football.
