The Broad Ripple community has been synonymous with Indy’s social environment catering to all walks of life. Several locally owned retailers, shops, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs flood Broad Ripple Avenue, which is the main thoroughfare in this community. While there is an epidemic occurring throughout Indiana, Triton Brewing Company is the first full scale production brewery that has been able to secure a presence along Broad Ripple Avenue. While Triton Tap, located at 915 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana, does not produce Triton products at this location, the environment is centered around the Triton brand. Let’s examine this location a little more closely.
The tasting room, which seems to resemble more of a cozy lodge, sits next to the locally recognized Sabbatical. In front of the facility is a large tiered deck that provides street level views of Broad Ripple Avenue. The deck faces north and is ideal for capturing the evening sunset, without being blinded by the sun, while providing a romantic feeling within the busy Broad Ripple atmosphere.
Inside the Tap Room is an environment that is designed for the social element. The bar area is prominent and open, which creates an interacting climate with other guest and the staff. There is a large communal table located in the center or the tasting room that is ideal for conversing over a glass of Triton beer. The communal table is unique in that it is portable which allows the area to open up even more if the clientele requires it, which provides additional options not found in many small tasting rooms.
Beer selections within Triton Tap are exclusive. Triton’s best seller production beers can be obtained here, including their Railsplitter, Brown, and Amber, among others. Seasonal and specialty brews can be obtained at this location (limited availability), as well as Triton’s production facility which is located in downtown Lawrence. Guest taps are also featured at both locations, which is an added benefit to the guest. Personally, I’m a fan of brews that have been aged in Bourbon or Wine Barrels, which I was able to sample a couple different blends at Triton Tap Room.
Food selection is unique. This establishment is a tap room that focuses on serving beer. As a result the facility does not have a kitchen. In order to accommodate the clientele, tap room owner Mike Chevigny allows guest to order food from establishments in the area and enjoy their meals in the tap room. This is unique and opens the door for individuals to have urban picnics while enjoying Triton’s signature beers. After a full examination of Triton Tap Room, it was clear that they have tapped into Broad Ripple.
