Trindon Holliday's so fast, he melted the snow on his way to the end zone Saturday.
It was a “Holliday” in the Mile High City and he warmed the hearts of the Denver faithful on a bone-chillingly cold day with his remarkable returns that not only lifted the spirits of the fanatics, but gave his teammates confidence as well.
Holliday was the first Broncos player to touch the ball, and his 90-yard punt return TD started the game's scoring off. He gave Denver a 7-0 lead, but it seemed almost too easy and the team's cockiness following the score allowed 14 straight Ravens points and the Broncos were suddenly down 14-7.
With his team tied at 21 at halftime, needing a game-changing play, Holliday was there to step up and blaze down the field for yet another touchdown. This time, he caught the second half's opening kickoff four yards deep in the end zone, brought it out and up the middle of the field, finding daylight and giving Denver the 28-21 lead.
“We went into halftime and the game was tied up 28-28, so it was like 0-0 to us,” Holliday said. “We just came out and Coach told us to set the tempo when we come out for the second half. When we got the kickoff, I just ran it back for a touchdown.”
Peyton Manning smiled and jumped up and down on the sideline during each return, yet, the Broncos ended up losing the game 38-35 in double overtime.
Still, each one of Holliday's returns stand as the first ones of each type in Broncos franchise history, and each one was the longest of its type in NFL postseason history.
He didn't stop there, Holliday also earned a record with most yards combined returned in an NFL postseason game.
Denver's season is over, but there's no doubt they'll look to bring back the exciting return man next year and beyond.
