On Friday, January 31 at 5 p.m., The J. Clyde (1312 Cobb Lane, Birmingham) will welcome Trim Tab Brewing Company to the Alabama craft beer community by hosting the brewery's official launch party.

Trim Tab Brewing (2721 5th Ave S, Birmingham) has been a long time coming after a few years of planning, the location of the brewery being moved from the originally planned site in downtown to the former Barber Motorsports Museum near the Lakeview District, and then a handful of delays that pushed the brewery back from its original opening date of October 2013. These things happen, but the wait has been worth it. Will Crenshaw, Trim Tab Brewmaster and former Brewer at SweetWater Brewing Company, has fired up the brewhouse and the time is now for Birmingham beer lovers to enjoy their first taste of Trim Tab brew. The beer is brewing, kegs are being filled, and the brewery opened its doors and tasting gallery to the public for the first time on Tuesday, January 28th.

To celebrate, the folks at Trim Tab are heading over to The J. Clyde on Friday to tap a few beers and hangout with the craft beer lovers of Birmingham. By a few beers, I am talking about six, brand new offerings and they are as follows:

  • Black IPA
  • Cucumber Saison
  • Old Ale
  • Pillar to Post Rye Brown Ale
  • Pillar to Post Rye Brown Ale - on cask and aged on oak chips
  • Southern Criterion IPA

If you are free on Friday, swing by the Clyde to properly introduce yourself to the beers and people of Trim Tab Brewing. If you cannot make it, you have a couple more options to get in on the action. The taproom is open at the brewery (check for open hours on the brewery's Facebook page) and a shipment of kegs went to the distributor to be delivered any day now at your favorite craft beer establishments in Birmingham. Any way you can, make sure you welcome Trim Tab Brewing to the Alabama craft beer community by raising a glass of one of their delicious brews. I have had the chance to sample a few of their offerings at tasting events over the last year, and I assure you that these beers are palate pleasers. Have fun out there and stay safe. Prost!
