Trim Tab Brewing plans release party for seasonal Berliner Weisse

On Friday, May 30, Trim Tab Brewing Company (2721 5th Avenue South, Birmingham) will release their summer seasonal Berliner Weisse at an official dance party with DJ Brett Rock in their tasting gallery.

As a style, the Berliner Weisse is a low alcohol, tart, sour and effervescent wheat beer that was developed in and around Berlin, Germany at the tail end of the Middle Ages. This beer is traditionally served with a shot or "Schuss" of either raspberry or woodruff syrup to cut the tartness a bit. Trim Tab's Berliner Weisse gets rid of the middleman by being fermented with raspberry and cherry puree to add a little sweetness and a touch more tartness. The finished product is an easy drinking and refreshing brew that is perfect for the summer months ahead.

For the release party itself, is there a better way to release this Berliner Weisse than with a full-blown dance party? Trim Tab certainly doesn't seem to think so, and they have invited Asheville, North Carolina's DJ Brett Rock to provide the funk. When you need a break from all of that dancing and something to pair up with the beer in your hand, you can head over to see R & D Catering who will be on-site to serve up some tasty, street food-inspired grub. Here is a sneak peek at some of Friday's menu items:

  • Falafel with home-made tzatziki, and roasted red pepper sauce
  • Carnitas tacos topped with home-made chimichurri and pico de gallo
  • Spicy Carrot Cake with candied pecans

With beer, eats and beats, this party has a little of something for everyone. Get your friends together and head over to Trim Tab Brewing Company's tasting gallery on Friday to celebrate summer and this summer seasonal in style. If you cannot make the release party, the Berliner Weisse will make its rounds all summer long on draft at craft beer-friendly restaurants, bars, and growler stations in Trim Tab's distribution area. Prost!
