Illinois witnesses watching a "bright, blue-ish white light" report that the object moved toward their dark, country location and revealed a "huge triangle" as it moved 600 feet overhead on June 28, 2011, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
"At first sight I started focusing in the camera and couldn't get a lock on it," the reporting witness stated. "I then realized it is headed right at us. It wasn't stationary anymore. Southeast flight pattern. It got straight above us 600 feet overhead. It just turned out its bright, white light. No other lights were visible. There was no sound at all and it looked like the shape of this thing was blocking out the sky behind it.. It looked like a huge triangle."
The witnesses had been out star gazing and "UFO hunting" at the time.
"We got really nervous since it stopped right over us. We jumped back in the car and got to civilization rather quickly. It's one of those things where you think I should be careful what i wish for."
No images or video were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 28, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity.
Illinois is a current UFO ALERT 4 rating, with a higher than average number of UFO sightings nationally. Illinois had 17 reports in May 2011 - while California had 55 UFO reports - the highest reporting state in the nation.

IL, June 28, 2011 - Was star gazing/ ufo hunting. Noticed in the western sky a bright bluish white light.. At first thought it was stationary and maybe a really bright big star. MUFON Case # 29771.
We were at 1000N and 2000S rd. We were out there in the dark country star gazing and UFO hunting. It was a perfect clear sky. We noticed a bright bluish white light that seemed to be too big to be a star..NW of our position.
