Colorado residents want some answers as to why three red lights were hovering in the sky March 20, 2011, in a triangle formation, according to multiple reports from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database and additional reports posted on YouTube with video.
MUFON received four reports between March 20 and 21.
Colorado is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating, with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. Colorado had 8 UFO reports in February 2011 - while California had 67 sightings, the highest reporting state in the nation.
You can read more details about other recently reported cases at the UFO Examiner home page. The most up-to-date UFO information can be heard at web radio show UFO Traffic Report every Wednesday, 9 - 10:30 p.m. EST, which includes a UFO Witness Testimony Program segment, and an update of the UFO ALERT national rating system. Past shows are available at the Archive page.
The following are the unedited and as yet uninvestigated reports filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Colorado MUFON State Director Doug Wilson investigates and reports back on these cases, I will release an update. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.
Case # 28335 describes what first appeared to be three red dots in the sky in a triangle formation on March 20 moving slowly to the east, described by a witness in Broomfield - located in the southeastern corner of Boulder County.
"Then two of them veered off together, almost came to touch each other, then veered away and looked as if they were heading back toward the other red dot," the witness stated. "They were very far away and appeared to flicker in the night sky. I'm not sure if they're still outside within view as I wanted to come in and report it! Cars were stopped on our street (Miramonte Blvd. in Broomfield) watching what was a pretty eerie movement of three red lights in the sky."
Case # 28337 - also reported from Broomfield - describes three red lights in the northeast sky "moving in a line and equally apart in distance but moving very slowly towards the Northeast sky on March 20."
"As they reached directly Northeast of my sight they stopped moving," the witness stated. "They probably sat in this position for about 5 minutes then two of them slowly and I mean very slowly continued on Northeast but they did not stay in a straight line to each other. One was in a slightly higher position then the other. The third red light stayed where all three had stopped earlier but slowly moved a little higher in the sky at that position and just stayed there. Eventually after 15 minutes of watching them one of the two red lights that continued further Northeast the lower red light just disappeared. The other two the one still directly in front of me and the other higher red light of the two that went further Northeast continued to shine. But shortly after the first red light disappeared about 2 or 3 minutes later the two remaining red lights at the same time disappeared. I did not hear any noise from them this could be they were to far out in distance from me to be able to."
Case # 28338 is reported by a man on break at work who spots four flashing red lights in a diamond pattern hovering in the sky on March 20 as he spoke to his wife by telephone.
"I was telling my wife what I was seeing. They started moving northeast at a very slow pace. There was no sound, and there was no other aircraft in the area, as they moved north they seemed to spread apart from each other, one heading more east then north, then the light farthest from me just vanished.the other three kept moving northeast. It took about three minutes before my wife said she could see them from Brighton, which is 16.4 miles northeast of my work."
Also on March 20, a YouTube video was posted from someone who shot video at Lafayette.
"Three glowing red lights appear above Denver in a triangular shape," the poster states. "They move across the sky very slowly over a 15-20 minute span. Then one light disappears. Then a minute or two later the other two disappear quickly one immediately followed by the other."
