Tri-State “Buy Local" Festival August 17th in Lakeville, CT

Tri-State Chamber of Commerce announces their 21st Annual “Buy Local" Festival
Susan Dickinson

Today the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce announced that their 21st Annual “Buy Local" Festival will be held in Lakeville, Connecticut on August 17, 2014. The Festival features all the best of the Tri-State area: local business exhibits, great food (including some new food vendors this year), arts and crafts on display and for sale. Back by popular demand is the Child ID Program, “Amber Alert” and new this year, is the McAdams Magic & Illusion show.

The Tri-State Festival is centrally located at the new venue, Mars Athletic Center, at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT. The event brings people together from a 60-mile radius from New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts, including the towns of Amenia and Millerton in New York; Canaan, Cornwall, Falls Village, Kent, Lakeville, Norfolk, Salisbury and Sharon in Connecticut; and Sheffield, Massachusetts. Nearly 2000 people attend this event for a day of fun, entertainment and information.

In an economic climate where even the international behemoth American Express launched a buy local campaign and started a small business OPEN forum on their website to promote buying local, area and/or regional Buy Local Festivals make sense. As the Farm-to-Table concept of keeping our purchasing dollars local moves out of restaurants and into the small business mindset, communities will experience the win/win of increasing jobs and revenues.

With that in mind, if you are a business in this area, there is still time to register as a vendor. The Tri-State “Buy Local" Festival enables all vendors to showcase their business and let the community know what they have to offer, as well as sell their items.Conversely, if there is no Buy Local event in your community, consider asking your local Chamber of Commerce to sponsor one.

The “Buy Local" Festival runs from 10 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Sunday August 17. It offers fun for the entire family, with plenty of parking. Admission is free and open to the public, rain or shine. For more information please visit the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce website, contact Susan Dickinson, President, at or call (860) 435-0740.
