DEXTER--- Trevor Fogarty recorded 17 points, 16 rebounds, and four assists to lead the Dexter Tigers boys basketball team to a 53-51 victory over the Stearns Minutemen at Guiski Gymnasium on Friday evening.
The Minutemen went on a 11-0 run in the first quarter, and had a lead of eight midway through the second quarter.
Stearns held a 26-22 lead at the half.
Bailey Spack scored the first five points of the second half as the Tigers took a 27-26 lead.
Seth Brown hit a three pointer with 4:19 remaining in the third quarter to give Stearns a 34-33 lead.
Ethyn Gould hit a shot late in the third quarter to even the score at 40 going into the final quarter.
All the things Fogarty did during the game, the biggest may have been when he blocked a shot by Brown two minutes into the fourth quarter.
Fogarty blocked the shot, got the rebound, dribbled the length of the court and set up a Spack basket to give the Tigers a 42-40 lead.
Dexter (4-1) built the lead to 51-46 when Fogarty hit two free throws with 1:26 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Brown hit a three pointer to cut the lead to 51-49. Kacey McVey hit a jumper to even the score at 51 with 55 seconds remaining.
Matt Bartlett drove to the basket and made the go ahead layup for the Tigers with 16 seconds remaining.
The Minutemen (1-4) had one last chance, but the shot by Brown rolled around the rim and bounced out as time expired.
Gould scored 14 points, including 12 in the first half for the Tigers. He also pulled down three rebounds.
Spack recorded 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Bartlett scored seven points, including the biggest two of the game.
Dustin Sirabella scored two points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Brown and Marc Morneault scored 14 points each to lead the Minutemen.
Morneault also recorded eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Zach Hartley chipped in with seven points and three assists. McVey added seven points and four rebounds.
