Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.
2013 Fall season- Week 7- October 14th- October 20th
Trevor Fogarty- Dexter- football- Rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns plus threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns in 50-44 double overtime loss to Mattanawcook.
Fogarty joins Libby Kain and Peyton Watson as two time AOW winners from Dexter.
A total of five student/athletes from Dexter have earned athlete of the week. David McKusick and Jordyn Bell have also earned the honor.
Damon Lincoln- Woodland- soccer- Scored four goals including scoring his school record 74th goal of his high school career in 7-3 victory over East Grand. Lincoln is 10th on the Maine's All-time Career Boys Soccer goal scorers list. Had two goals and two assists in 11-4 loss to Southern Aroostook.
Andrew Speed- Central- soccer- Had two goals and one assist in 6-0 victory over Bucksport. Had two assists in 3-2 victory over PCHS.
Brian Dunn- Old Town- soccer- Recorded a hat trick in 6-2 victory over John Bapst.
Spencer Barron- John Bapst- football- Ran for one touchdown, threw for one touchdown, recorded 10 tackles and one interception in 22-12 victory over Stearns.
Trysten Pelkey- Mattanawcook- football- Rushed for 134 yards, four touchdowns and threw for 87 yards in 50-44 double overtime victory over Dexter.
AJ McEachern- Mattanawcook- football- Rushed for three touchdowns including the game winning touchdown in 50-44 double overtime victory over Dexter.
