A Trent Richardson trade has just rocked the NFL as the Cleveland Browns sent their star running back to the Indianapolis Colts in the trade. According to ESPN on Sept. 18, the Colts sent back a first round draft pick.
The Richardson trade was a shocking turn of events, as he is the best player on the entire Browns' offense. Cleveland drafted Richardson with their first round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
A a rookie last season, Richardson ran for 950 yards and a Browns rookie record 11 touchdowns. He was off to a slow start this season, with only 105 yards in the first two games of the season. Richardson made comments after the season's opening game about wanting more touches to help his team.
Cleveland rewarded Richardson, who played for much of his rookie season with broken ribs, by trading him to the Colts.
Indianapolis has been suffering from some problems at running back problems, with Vick Ballard out with an ACL injury. Ahmad Bradshaw and Donald Brown have been splitting carries, with Bradshaw a 1,000-yard rusher in 2012 with the New York Giants.
Richardson will easily be the starting running back with the Indianapolis Colts, and paired with Andrew Luck, gives them a fantastic one-two punch on offense. Cleveland is expected to sign Willis McGahee after the Trent Richardson trade.
