Party connoisseurs, if you’re visiting Pittsburgh there are a tremendous amount of bars and nightclubs you can check out. The city of Pittsburgh is made up of four sides; East side, West side, Northside and the Southside. And you also have the Strip District which is centrally located in the heart of Pittsburgh.
The first stop on the Party Tours Express is the Southside. The Southside is located across the Monongahela River from downtown Pittsburgh. You can get to the Southside by driving but parking is really tight (street parking), buses (Pittsburgh has some of the best public transportation), a taxi (but remember you don’t hail taxis in Pittsburgh you have to call 412-321-8100 Yellow Cab or 412-322-5080 Classy Cabs) their version of a subway or you can walk across the Tenth Street bridge.
Once you arrive on Carson Street, the main Trendy Hot spot street you have a myriad of bars and a couple of nightclubs. While strolling down Carson in search of a Jack Daniels and ginger ale with a lemon, the bar that will capture your attention right away is the Tiki Lounge located at 2003 East Carson Street Pittsburgh, PA 15203-1965, (412) 381-8454 and you can also visit their website at www.tikilounge.biz. They’re open Monday-Saturday 4pm-2am and Sunday 8pm-2am. This place is phenomenal! After Rasta Ray (that’s not his name), checks your ID, you walk into a little slice of Tahiti, from the décor, to the drink specials served in their signature Tiki mugs (upon request). Make sure you try the volcano, a bowl of rum and juices that serves 2-4 people. And you can also buy the signature mugs and shot glasses. On Fridays the music is a mixture of top 40 and techno. There’s no food or cover charge and the dress code, casual!
The Tiki Lounge has 2 ½ floors. There is a main bar as soon as you walk in and Tiki booths to the right. If you’re on a date and feeling a little romantic you can chill out there but they do fill up fast. If you feel like dancing head to the back and dance until you sweat. Heading downstairs there are two sets of stairs; across from the main bar, and right before you hit the dance area in the back, make a sharp left saunter down the stairs through a small hallway where you’ll find a lounge area with a water fall and more stairs. Once you’re downstairs there is a little bar tucked away with some seating. It’s actually quite cozy down there. If you walk through, passed the bar you’ll hit the bathrooms.
YOU MUST check out the bathrooms! The bathrooms are fabulous, as soon you walk in you are immediately engulfed with more of that Tahiti vibe.
Everybody is welcome at the Tiki Lounge but for the most part, their patrons are predominantly Caucasian with a college flair. However no matter what age or race you are, you will have a fabulous time, in a very safe and fun environment. The drinks are reasonably priced. And for you cigarette smokers you can puff away on the inside or you can go outside and hang with Rasta Ray. But it’s not mandatory to smoke outside!
So during your stay in the Steel City make sure you stop by the Tiki Lounge you won’t regret it!
