If you decided to remain in town (whatever your reason be it, gas is expensive, gas is too high, or gas is really not cheap) Friday had most Charlotteans on edge at the thought of a rainy, downcast weekend. However, thankfully, the skies parted on Saturday morning and the sun did not break for the remainder of the weekend; lending to a glorious 2011 Memorial Day holiday.
There was so much to do this weekend, in the way of different clubs. Of course the Epicenter, located at the corner of College Street and East Trade Street in Uptown Charlotte, provided a central locale for locals and visitors to party and get a well-earned release from a taxing work week. If you follow @WhiskeyRiverCLT on Twitter and checked in through Foursquare (a service available through most GPS-enabled mobile devices) then you could have by-passed the twenty dollar cover on Friday, May 27. By midnight, the place was jammed wall-to-wall with people. Even with the strobbing lights, it was difficult to see what most of the party-goers were wearing but as fate would have it about halfway through the night, I noticed a young lady in a silk paisley romper making her way toward the mechanical bull. Her gold strappy sandals definately dressed up the look.
Rompers (or sometimes called a onsie because its a one-piece shirt and short ensemble), made a huge splash on the Fall 2008 runways (for the upcoming spring fashion season) but as is the fickleness of fashion faded immediately but surprisingly made a quick return back to the runways for the spring/summer 2011 season. Rompers, in my opinion, are one of the cutest, most low-maintenance pieces a woman can own in her closet because they can be dressed up or down depending on your mood or your destination. However, be advised the target demographic for this trendy item are the youthful, daring, fashionable 20-somethings (although, even if you are in your early to mid-30s and have the confidence to pull it off, go for it!).
Rompers come in a variety of styles and at varying price points (you may not want to spend as much on a here today, gone tomorrow piece). Forever 21 has an amazing strapless, woven jumpsuit that features a floral pattern, ruffles at the neckline and an elasticized waist for $15.
