As an upgrade of the Color Block trend that got so popular on spring 2011, arrives a wide range of pastel hues to switch places with the vibrant ones that dominated last year's scenario.
The volume on the color may have decreased, but the presence remains.
This spring is all about pastel colors; not necessarily in a girly kind of way but definitely into a candy land groove; either way it's you the one that will choose how to wear them.
For example, combine a pale pink piece with cream and mint green, or match a light lavender garment with light turquoise blue like DVF did. You can even choose one pastel tone and wear it from head to toe; in this case "the more, the better." Get inspired with Valentino and Louis Vuitton's 2012 spring collection for this last one.
Jason Wu presented looks with very feminine tones in rose wood; Ralph Lauren was not only inspired by the 20's but also eliminated the film noir of the decade and presented his models in floral prints in pastel colors. 3.1 Phillip Lim, Preen, Tibi and Prada chose to mix all types of somber and pastel tones: pale orange with purple and pink cotton candy, among other combinations.
Dare create your own candy color combinations; and if you still have some doubts just remember the words of the greatest fashion icon of the moment, Lady Gaga, as said in her new video Marry the Night; “..and I also believe that mint will be very big in fashion next spring”.
Go get your hands on some minty fresh clothes!
