Trees are extremely important to us. Native American Indians believe trees are sacred, and that they are alive. Because they are living things, they utilize them with great appreciation and make sure, if they need to kill one that no part of the tree goes to waste.
The Indians appreciate trees as living beings; they share space with them in their spiritual realm. They are wise people. Trees offer so much more to our existence than just shade. According to Forestry.about.com, “A mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year. What many people don't realize is the forest also acts as a giant filter that cleans the air we breath.” This fact, in itself, confirms that trees are critical to our survival.
They allow us to engage our core survival tool, the ability to breath. Have you ever been upset or anxious and you were able to gain your balance simply by taking long, deep breaths, you can do this because of trees!
Appreciate what they do, their place in nature and in our spiritual world. Appreciate what they symbolize, their strength and protection.
Gaze at trees with awe; take in their essence and appreciate their gift of life. Be one with nature, it opens your spirit to an even larger universe, one that is all inspiring!
