Tree of Redemption is a green plant mythic rare in Magic: The Gathering’s Innistrad. Tree of Redemption will present significant problems for any foe attempting to deliver death by damage, and was revealed today in the final batch of Innistrad previews with the full visual spoiler on the official Magic: The Gathering site.

T: Exchange your life total with Tree of Redemption's toughness.
0/13
Not only is Tree of Redemption a formidable wall that almost nothing can penetrate, but it will keep you nice and healthy should any damage get through. With just a tap, Tree of Redemption can replenish your life to 13 – a true nightmare for burn decks, aggro decks, and anyone trying to defeat you by dealing damage. But it's not a completely reusable solution, as when you make the exchange it's an actual swap of life, so the tree will end up with whatever life total you had as a new toughness value.
Various cards can be used to enhance Tree of Redemption’s toughness for even more life-swapping fun as well as make it indestructible to stray Doom Blades or other removal spells that can avoid a 13 point toughness barrier.
Tree of Redemption will be interesting to experiment with for Standard – while it is an absolutely offbeat and unusual, the body and ability are quite powerful for a 4 mana investment. A true oddity, Tree of Redemption could appear in some very creative decks.
In Limited, Tree of Redemption is a huge roadblock and can close a game down by itself if your opponent cannot deal with its enormous trunk and ability to potentially replenish a massive amount of health. Tree of Redemption has first pick potential – although it can’t really “win” the game by itself, your opponent will have great difficulty getting around it.
Tree of Redemption is an interesting selection for Commander as well due to the unique nature of its ability and should find a home in several decks there as well.
Get your first chance to experience absolution with the Tree of Redemption at Magic: The Gathering Innistrad prerelease events, kicking off September 24-25.
