Tree-marking committee plans to look for improvements (Video)

The National Tree-Marking Paint Committee plans to discuss improved handling of the paint that guides trail users through the forests. The committee announced on Thursday, April 4, that it will meet between Tuesday, May 21 and Thursday, May 23 to discuss handling of tree-marking paint.

The committee determines the regulations for marking trails on trees in national forests and Bureau of Land Management acres.

The meeting takes place at the Sewee Education Center, Francis Marion National Forest, 5821 Highway 17 North, Awendaw, SC. The public may attend most of the sessions. If you can't make it to South Carolina, you can send written comments on any concerns or suggestions for improving tree painting. For details, see http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013-04-04/html/2013-07783.htm.

A field trip will take place on Tuesday. While the public is invited, anyone wishing to attend must provide his own transportation.

The agenda will include two closed sessions. At one, paint manufacturers can present products without disclosing trade secrets.
