An annual tradition, the Town of Mammoth Lakes will welcome in the festive, holiday season at the official Tree Lighting Ceremony this Friday, Dec. 6.

Held each year in the Footloose Sports parking lot at the entrance of town, the event brings the community together for hot chocolate and yummy treats, as well as sing alongs to favorite carols.

With super chilly temperatures this week, plan to stay warm and toasty around the many fire pits. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m.

Also on Dec. 6, the City of Bishop holds its tree lighting ceremony at the City Park. Enjoy cookies, cocoa and live entertainment beginning at 5:30 p.m., then stroll downtown for the Street of Lights event and get a jump on your holiday shopping.

The following week, on Dec. 13, head up the highway just a bit to June Lake for its tree lighting ceremony and the opening day of June Mountain Ski Area! Activities begin at 3 p.m. and include caroling as well as a bonfire.
