Trebek Magic Johnson: Alex Trebek loses fixed Jeopardy smile after a bad answer

Alex Trebek found nothing funny in the Magic Johnson answer that he got to a Jeopardy question recently from a game show contestant. Trebek, the host of Jeopardy, asked a question that should have been answered with a hockey player’s name, but instead he got Magic Johnson, who plays hoops!

As reported by Fox News on March 27, Jeopardy players have said some crazy and funny things in the past, as they are under a lot of pressure and most are on the air for the first time. Usually Trebek laughs along with the rest of the audience, but apparently Trebek is a big time hockey fan, as he hails from Canada. He didn’t find the answer to this question funny at all. It is almost as if he was reprimanding the player.

Here is the Jeopardy question:

“100+ assists in an NHL season has been accomplished on 13 times, 11 times by this player”

The correct answer is Wayne Gretzky. He was a hockey great from the past. Magic Johnson played basketball, and he too is iconic, just the contestant named someone from the wrong sport. Check out the video above to see the contestant give the wrong answer.

Trebek very seriously corrects the man saying “we are talking about hockey, not the NBA.”
