“Dessert First is the sweetest event of the year” raved SF Socialite Examiner insider Ellian Raffoul, She was on hand to get a taste for some of the prime pastry making talent the Bay Area has to offer. This is the 14th year for Project Open Hand's annual fundraiser. Yigit Pura, Celebrity Chair of the event made a name for himself when he won the Top Chef Just Desserts crown. The Nob Hill resident joined forces with Taste Catering’s Meme Pederson and Janet Griggs to open Tout Sweet Pâtisserie on Union Square. He has since been featured on Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker. The shows no-nonsense, hard-driving Patti Stanger was instantly drawn to the handsome, quippy and charismatic Pura. It’s no surprise he drew a fun-filled, energetic crowd to indulge in Dessert First.

It was the cream of the pastry crop with 20 local chefs all serving up their specialties. Pura’s Tout Sweet was flanked by Matthew Siciliano of Michael Mina, Robert Vallejos of Spruce, Mark Richardson of the Four Seasons/MKT Restaurant & Bar, Angela Salvatore of Waterbar and Jessica Sullivan of Delfina to name some of the SF Socialite Examiner’s favorite participating haunts. The euphoric sugar high, interactive cocktail experience and Pura’s colorful suggestions to dig deep for a good cause, encouraged donations to the tune of $50,000. 100% percent of those proceeds went to help continue the efforts of Project Open Hand, providing complete meals to the communities sick and elderly.
