Treat your tastebuds at the Downtown Food and Wine Fest this weekend

It's time to try some new, tasty offerings at the 2014 Downtown Food and Wine Fest to be held Sat., Feb. 22 (noon to 9:00 p.m.) and Sun., Feb 23 (noon to 7:00 p.m.) at Lake Eola, along Robinson Ave.

Orlando’s 2014 Downtown Food and Wine Fest will feature 35 of the area’s top restaurants serving over 100 dishes. There will be 12 wine stations serving over 50 wines from around the world. A fun outing for family and friends, the Downtown Food and Wine Fest tickets are $20 for general admission at the gate, or can be purchase online here.

Bring your blankets and chairs to enjoy the live concerts (no outside food or drink is allowed). The two-day festival includes music on Saturday by Orange Avenue, Simulcast, Matt Shenk, The Mud Flappers, Matt Nathanson, and on Sunday by Dominic Gaudious, Derek and The Slammers, Selwyn Birchwood, and Three Dog Night.

This year’s restaurant lineup includes Copper Canyon, Marguaritaville, Fogo de Chao, Tony Roma’s, Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen, Tijuana Flats, Ellie Lou’s BBQ, Italio, Peach Valley Café, Stonewood Grille, Tommy Bahamas, Hawkers Asian Street Fare, Taverna Opa, The Meat House, Fish on Fire, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Siro, Sushi House, Fusion Bistro, The Smiting Bison, Christner’s, Mingo’s, Wildside BBQ, and The Knife.

Every year judges taste and judge the restaurant’s best offerings and award the Golden Fork Awards. Categories for this year’s awards are: Foodie Award (based on one food item for taste, unique flavor and culinary excellence); Best of Show (based on fun factor, overall energy, and crowd vibe); and Best Overall Menu (based on best overall menu with diverse, creative offerings for myriad tastes).
