TREASURES IN THE SUPERSTITION MOUNTAINS OF ARIZONA

TREASURES IN THE SUPERSTITION MOUNTAINS OF ARIZONA   by Mitch Waite

During my research on the Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine and the lore of the Superstition Mountains, I came across numerous mentions of other treasures, which could possibly be located in the Superstitions. Each of these items would make wonderful articles for my readers.  My question to you all is which one should I do first?  Leave me some feedback.

The Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine

The Dutchman’s Cache (Enough to make 20 men millionaires)

7 to 10 Other Spanish Mines (depicted on the Peralta Stone Maps)

The Church Treasure (may be the same as the Jesuit Treasure)

The Jesuit Treasure (Treasure cached by the Church to keep it from the King of Spain)

Montezuma’s Treasure (Aztec Gold)

Geronimo’s Treasure (Loot too buy guns)

The Spanish Massacre Gold (run away mules from battle)

Hacksaw Stage Robbery Loot (Robber never caught, loot never found)

The Spanish Caches (Banks for regional collections)

Wagoneer’s Lost Ledge of Gold

The Treasure of Santa Fe

The Indian Treasure Cave (artifacts of value)

The Pillar of Silver (the Vanishing Antelope Vein)

The Two Soldier’s Mine  (Soldiers died on way back to mine)

Dearing’s Mine (possibly the same as the Two Soldier mine—may be a cache)

The 50 Caliber Machine Guns (3 Wrecked Corsair U4F4 Aircraft)

The Surface Gold Veins of Four Peaks (Gold Nuggets)

A B-29 Aircraft (never located)

Indian War Clubs (reported by Law enforcement official)

Dr Thorn’s Pile of Gold (Take as  much as you can carry)

DeGraza’s $1,000,000 Painting Stash (refused to pay taxes on his own paintings)

The Lost Miner’s Mine

The Treasure of the Sierra Madras

Jenkins’ Lost Ledge of Gold

Marvin’s Beryllium Vein (Marvin picked up pretty rock while hunting)

The Chest in the Cave in Saguaro Lake (cave is under water)

The Lost Helmet Mine (Spanish Helmet grown into a tree)

The Room of Gold Bars  (several reports)

This listing is by no means all the stories about the mines, loot, and treasures in the Superstition Mountain area.  There are many more, and I will attempt to cover them as time and resources permit.  Also, this territory has the potential of producing numerous Indian and Spanish artifacts.    However, I must caution any would-be treasure seekers--it is now illegal to treasure trove or prospect in the Superstition Mountain Wilderness area, and the removal of Indian artifacts is prohibited.
