November has arrived. As the weather turns colder, the Treasure Valley sees fewer outdoor fitness events. But that doesn’t mean you can’t stay active. You just have to plan a little better. Of course, in November, there are plenty of turkey trot/Thanksgiving-themed races, so you can indulge in that pumpkin pie without the guilt. Here’s a list to help you stay active throughout the month.
Saturday, November 2
Zeitgeist Half Marathon This race takes begins and ends at the Optimist Football Park, located northwest of Boise. It’s a loop course on paved and dirt roads, featuring a 1,181 foot elevation gain over three hills. For more information, click on this link.
Friday, November 8
Shine Nighttime 5K If a daytime 5K is a little too routine, check out this nighttime event, taking place at Reid Merrill Park along the greenbelt in Eagle. Instead of a race t-shirt, you’ll get a headlamp, to help light your way. For more information, click on this link.
Saturday, November 23
Turkey Trot Relay This time-honored Boise tradition is open to four-person relay teams. Each team member must complete a two-mile loop through Ann Morrison Park. The team closest to their predicted time wins a turkey for each team member. A new feature this year is a costume contest. For more information, click on this link.
Thursday, November 28
Struttin’ for Stuffin’ Dress up in that turkey or pilgrim costume and strut your stuff to Nampa for this fun event. Walkers are welcome. For more information, click on this link.
Turkey Day 5K The Boise Healthy Living Examiner plans to be at this event again this year. You can run, walk, or jog, through the beautiful neighborhoods of downtown Boise, and support great charities like Special Olympics Teams, the Boise Rescue Mission Food Bank, and City Lights Home for Women and Children.
