Treasure Valley fitness events for March 2014

See also

Everyone in the Treasure Valley is well aware that just because we see a few days of sunshine in February, it doesn’t mean that spring is really here. But it sure can inspire you to get outside and get moving. Fortunately, although there may still be a little rain and snow in the near future, there are plenty of upcoming fitness events next month to help you get active, and support some great causes. So dust off those sneakers and check out the list below to help you plan for a healthy March.

Saturday, March 1

Les Bois 10K Trail Run Course starts and finishes at Fort Boise Park, and is run completely on dirt roads. The out and back course includes a 3.1 mile climb and descent. For more information, click on this link.

Saturday, March 8

Speed to Feed Idaho 5K/10K This race, which starts and finishes at the BSU Student Union Building and winds along the Boise River Greenbelt, benefits The Idaho Foodbank. All participants should bring at least one can of food, or a monetary donation. At this time of year, donations slow down, so this is a great way to help those in need while doing something good for your health. For more information, click on this link.

Saturday, March 15

Eagle Gold Rush Half Marathon/10K/5K This second annual event starts and finishes at Reid Merrill Park in Eagle. Proceeds benefit Team With a Vision, a team of sighted and non-sighted runners who will pair up and run the Boston Marathon. For more information, click on this link.

YMCA St. Patrick’s Day Fun Run Forget the green beer—celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in a healthier way with this event starting at the Julia Davis Park band shell. Choose from a 5K run/walk, 5 mile run, 1 mile kilted run, and 1 mile kids fun run/walk. Green attire is encouraged. For more information, click on this link.

Shamrock Shuffle Half Marathon/10K/5K/Kids Run Choose your course, don your green or leprechaun attire, and then go have fun. All races take place at Ste. Chapelle Winery in Caldwell. For more information, click on this link.

Saturday, March 29

Ash Dash Memorial Run Help wildland and city firefighters honor past, present, and future firefighters with his 5 mile run. All proceeds benefit the National Wildland Firefighters Monument and the Idaho Fallen Firefighter Memorial. For more information, click on this link.

Pickled Feet Runs Is a 5K or even a half marathon just not enough for you? If so, then test yourself against the clock and check out this event at Eagle Island State Park. The idea is to cover as many miles as possible in 48, 24, 12, or 6 hours, on a flat, 2.5 mile course. Or, you can sign up for the 100 mile fixed distance option.
