Former Denver Broncos running back Travis Henry has reached a plea agreement in a federal drug case. Henry's attorney, Harvey Steinberg of Denver, filed court papers Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Billings, Mont., saying his client and prosecutors had reached an agreement. The filing does not say what charges Henry intends to admit to.
U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull scheduled a change-of-plea hearing for April 16.
Henry, 30, and co-defendant James Mack, 29, were arrested in Sept. 30 in the Denver area. They were charged with conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute, two counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine.
Prosecutors allege the two plotted to supply at least five kilograms of cocaine to customers in the Billings area. They were arrested in an undercover operation after a traffic stop in Montana led to the arrest of an associate.
Mack, of Bow Mar, has pleaded not guilty and his trial is scheduled for April 27. The court has set an Monday deadline to file any plea agreements.
Henry played 2007 with the Broncos. He had signed a four-year, $22.5 million contract before his release in June 2008.
He was with the Tennessee Titans in 2005-06 after four seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 2002 with the Bills.
