Traveling with my camera, Mexican cruise (Photos)

Don't get off the ship, I was advised. Be careful, stay around the port. All were given as good advice regarding our upcoming Mexican cruise on Carnival Cruise Lines. So much advice was given that I was apprehensive getting on the ship. All that worry for nothing.

We had a great time, and our two ports Cabo San Lucas and Puerta Vallarta were quite safe. And, the ship was an amateur photographer's dream. Being a party type ship, the interior was colorful and glitzy. I'll admit that I didn't like that the ship had no direct way to walk around it except for the very high decks. So, if you wanted to stay out of the weather, you had to walk halfway to catch an elevator to another floor that would get you where you wanted to go.

And, watch out for the Hot Chocolate Melting Cake! That alone will put the pounds on. Even though I watched the amount I ate, I put on three pounds just eating that delicious dessert each night. I made sure I was a good Weight Watcher and left a bit in the dish, but that didn't help! Because we were at sea four days, I did a fair amount of walking as stair climbing on the large ship.

During our time in port, we took two tours. I actually snorkeled for the first time in the Cabo San Lucas waters. The ocean is so blue and clear. Fortunately, the water temperature was about 80 degrees--just right for me. I didn't take my DSLR camera with me because I was afraid it would get wet. I wish I had taken it. I missed so many opportunities for great shots. Other passengers had their wonderful camera equipment and nothing happened. We do learn our lessons. So, I don't have any pictures of our snorkel adventure to share with you. I'm saving my pictures of our Puerta Vallarta tour for another article. That was an adventure!

The pictures I am including in the accompanying slide show are of the ship itself. Because of all the bright lights, I was able to shoot without a tripod or flash. My camera and I had a lot of fun aboard ship, and I learned more about what the camera could do.

I'll tell you more about this fun cruise in my next article. Remember, watch out for the Hot Chocolate Melting Cake!
