If you find yourself traveling as much as I do, you know that it's hard to know all of the climate changes you might encounter and even harder to predict the effect they can have on your skin. Recently, I awoke to have a nasty sunburn on my face, though I try to wear hats, etc. when walking around. But you know how it goes . . . just sitting by a window or on the reflective end of metal outside and you can be unknowingly frying yourself.
So, when I awoke with a mysteriously damaged complexion, I felt a stabbing sadness catching my reflection in the mirror. I was glad to have been sent one of Natura Bissé's Diamond Mist to learn about. The question was, should I wait until my skin was "better" to try it?
With a glamorous Barcelona-based company and a product name like Diamond Mist, I kind of envisioned chic people using the mist to perfect already perfect complexions, whilst wearing maribou feather trimmed robes in front of marble vanities. My life isn't quite like that and it was far from the ideal with the sun damage.
I scrutinized the ingredients like a scientist to see if this would have ingredients that would help -- not further damage -- my face. No alcohol: an important start. Among other ingredients, it does have lavender essential oil, which has been used since Roman times to cleanse and purify. The word "lavender" itself derives from the Latin word for washing.
I felt confident going ahead and using it. I'm not a doctor, so I can only report on my experience with the mist. It's in a plastic bottle, so that's good for if you are traveling by car/train/boat or checking your bag. It's worth transferring to a little spray bottle from the dollar store so that you can take it with carry-on luggage. Even without any alcohol, it still has a crisp, refreshing and cooling aspect . . . it's not like those mists that leave you wondering if you even sprayed anything on you. In fact, it's so chock full of active ingredients, I recommend covering your eyes a bit when spraying.
Plus, the mist is also for use on decolleté -- or on your "charms," as one of my 1930's makeup books calls it. It's rare to find a good, effective product for decolleté, which is good to be thinking about now that the damage of swimsuit season is done.
Well, a few days of using the product later, my skin was looking much more like its best incarnation. When your skin is looking great, I'll tell ya, the endorphin boost is more than great hair days or a new outfit anytime!
