Travelers: radically repair your skin with Radical Skincare + Oscars beauty tips

Traveling wreaks crazy havoc on your skin: changes in sleep patterns, diet, air travel, sun and wind exposure all contribute to trouble for skin. It stands for trouble and trouble means aging!

And yet, it's often hard to discern what to use on your skin to replenish it; some moisturizing products are heavy, waxy, oily. I remember staying at girlfriends' family homes in college. If I forgot makeup remover, etc., their moms would generously offer use of their beauty products. These things felt like melted crayons mixed with cooking shortening . . . cue in the breakouts. After a few of those experiences, I wrongly kept away from moisturizing products. For years, I was shooting myself in the foot!

That's why I was glad to be hosted to experience Radical Skincare. Here's part of their background:

Liz and Rachel are the daughters of Dr. Richard F. Edlich MD.PHD, world renowned Professor of Plastic Surgery. Working in their father’s lab before the age of ten and at the University of Virginia Burn Unit, they were exposed to the science of skin rejuvenation and wound repair at extreme levels. After having been in the skin care industry in Los Angeles for 15 years and creating over 100 products for celebrities and others, their business became very personal when the unthinkable happened.

Rachel developed Rosacea after having her second child and had red bumps all over her face and was completely inflamed. She was on the 3 types of medication that the doctors said she would be on for life. They both decided that this was the perfect storm and called upon their chemists and scientists and challenged them to create the most powerful anti-aging solution for Liz that could be used on Rachel's sensitive skin. With no regard to costs and with no intention of selling this youth elixir to the larger public, they identified the prime defect in most anti-aging formulas they corrected it, perfected it and then clinically tested it. The results spoke for themselves. A USDA lab compared their formulas to numerous leading skincare brands* and the potency results were unbeatable.

Trylacel™ a radical breakthrough in suspension technology, keeps the antioxidant potency and performance in the cream to deliver maximum benefits and results quickly. By combining and encapsulating maximum levels of powerful antioxidants, clinically proven reparative and soothing agents in a bi-lipid membrane.

But how are the products? The Hydrating Cleanser is a thin, lotion consistency -- not heavy or goopy -- with a very slight citrus scent. It dissolves foundation and rinses with water, but leaves a smooth skin texture: not stripped. You won't feel tightness after using it.

The Instant Revitalizing Mask (available at Sephora.com) is a game changer for aging skin: it's in an ingenious packaging, keeping light and air out of the product. It applies like lotion and then bubbles up with effervescence. Skin is being super-cleansed, oxygenated and nourished in a matter of minutes. It works in just a few minutes and doesn't harden like a clay mask. This is in a size and container that most definitely fits into a 3-1-1 bag, so you can have a refreshing spa-like experience in the hotel room after a rough flight.

Hitting the red carpet for the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar party, Leslie Mann was a radiant beauty from head to toe. “I wanted to give Leslie's makeup a fresh, young look, with an emphasis on pink tones, to give a flattering counter balance to her gorgeous chartreuse gown”, said makeup artist Elaine Offers.

Elaine began by prepping Leslie’s skin with Radical Skincare's Instant Revitalizing Mask ($65, Sephora) to invigorate and hydrate. The soothing formula delivers a dose of vitamins and energy to the skin, which when taken off, gives you that “just-left-the-gym” glow. “I followed with a few drops of Radical Skincare's Youth Infusion Serum, to lock in that moisture and firm skin,” said Offers.
