Travelers in Orlando: Skip the RSVP's at restaurants and hire a Personal Chef

As a traveler, there are always things that we look forward to in going to a new City. One of the things that can become a very time-consuming process, specially in a city like Orlando that is filled with people everywhere all the time, is choosing a restaurant to go out to eat, and then waiting to get in (specially during peaking holiday season). Instead, this season, why not hire a personal chef?? I spoke with personal Chef JD, of CheFIT, in Orlando about his business. Here's what he's got to say, from a professional's point of view.

E: "Tell us about what you do, and what's the passion, the driving force per se, behind CheFIT?"

Chef JD: Creating elegant restaurant experiences without having to experience the wait and sometimes sacrificed quality of food. I mean, we've all been disappointed, steak not cooked correctly, broccolli overcooked, we eliminate that by doing what the client wants, how they want the first time around.

E: "What would you recommend to travelers during this season about the restaurants in Orlando?"

Chef JD: How a lot of them are great to visit, but you always risk that cleanliness and food safety are often sacrificed to keep up with business.

E:"What are some of the foods that we could expect to have with CheFIT?"

Chef JD: "CheFIT offers a unique, custom menu to fit the individual palette, if you want Indian food one night, and classical French the next, the menu's are always exactly what you want, when you want them. Never have to wait to get seated ever again."

E: "What is the Personal Chef Experience like, for those that are not familiar with this type of service?"

Chef JD: We start with mapping out your menu, and if you're one for surprises, then leaving the creativity to an artisan is always a wise choice. Once we know what we cook, we pick a few moments of your busy schedule, roughly about four hours to prepare and store your catered cuisine based on how many nights you're seeking service for. I will then shop the day of, buy all the freshest, high quality ingredients and in that small window of time, come and prepare the best meals that you'll enjoy during your stay. Since time is a commodity, that we often want more of while on vacation, no waits, no fuss, and all the elegance. More time enjoying your vacation, than waiting for your vacation.

E: "How did you train to become a personal Chef, was this always the dream for Chef JD?"

Chef JD: "No, thirteen years of restaurant training. Being trained by the most professional Chefs around the globe led me here. Having a love for the culinary arts, and always striving for more, is what brought us to CheFIT. Often you find restaurants sacrificing safety and sanitation to turn a table, something I never want to be a part of. With CheFIT, our goal has always been "Know Your Food, Know Your Quality, and Support Your Local Farms".

E: "While we're on the subject of supporting the local farms, how is CheFIT showing the support to the local farms?"

Chef JD: "Since CheFIT is an at-home Private Chef Service, you'll never be exposed to bulk shipments from nameless shippers. We only shop in local grocer's and farmer markets in our client's area. Instead of the big box brands that restaurants often use for the chain restaurants, we provide ingredients that are handpicked for the freshest quality.local farmers give us the ability to have the best product while supporting the small businesses in our area, stimulating our communities' economy. We strive for healthy meals with a great taste, healthy foods should not be bland, that's a misconception, healthy foods should be rich in flavor."

There you have it folks, while you're traveling through our nice little city in Orlando, you should take a look into getting yourself a private chef. As part of the unique things that the people at CheFIT are doing, they also have a program called "Cooking with Friends" which allows people to host events in their home, and while Chef JD teaches groups of 6-8 about the menu that they are preparing, he has a film crew that films it. The footage then gets edited and packaged on a DVD for the host to have. "It's like having a cooking show, that you create in the comfort of your own home, and you get to keep the footage in case you need to revisit how to make a certain recipe" says the Chef.
