Headed to Cape Cod on Labor Day weekend ? Here are a few tips to make your day trip less stressful. First, let's talk about bridges.
There are two bridges that connect Cape Cod to the mainland. One is the The Bourne Bridge, accessible by Routes 195 and the other is The Sagamore Bridge, accessible via Route 3 South. Some locals say that there isn't much difference between the two bridges in terms of traffic.
However, The Smart Guide, a public service of the Cape Cod National Seashore, advises travelers to use the Bourne Bridge, due to the theory that typically, there are fewer vehicles travelling to/from the Cape via the Bourne Bridge.

However, keep in mind that once you cross that bridge, Route 28 between Yarmouth and Falmouth can get quite crowded. Better yet, try taking the new intra Cape bus service. Call this number 800 352-7155 for more information. The bus runs from Woods Hole to Provincetown, with stops in between.About Smart Guide
Smart Guide is a project of The Cape Cod National Seashore and several Cape Cod businesses. The goal is to reduce traffic congestion on the mid and lower Cape. 50,000 Smart Guide brochures about Car-Free Transportation to Outer Cape Cod are now available to the public, free.
