The 7th annual EU Open House, an event that has the embassies of the 28 member states of the European Union and the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Washington opening their doors for a day of family fun, is scheduled to take place on May 10, 2014.
Each embassy will be open to the public from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2014, offering a rare look inside the buildings and providing a unique opportunity to experience the country’s cultural heritage and national traditions. Taste the food, enjoy the music, and join in a dance or two. The countries that are participating are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain Sweden, United Kingdom, and the EU Delegation.
Germany and France will be joining forces and offering their fare at the Embassy of France. They will offer food, music, face-painting and balloon twisting and a chance to take a selfie with an iconic German or French item. There will be Austrian wine; Belgian waffles, chocolate and beer; Bulgarian yogurt and wine; Cypriot cheese and soudjouko; Czech brews; Italian games; Romanian dances; Spanish tapas; and more.
