Travel through classic films on The Great Movie Ride (Photos)

The Great Movie Ride is located at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. It is inside of the replica of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Leading up to the building are hand and footprints of celebrities. The indoor queue winds around costumes and props from classic films, The displays change from time to time. Guests then enter a room with a giant screen in the front. Theatrical trailers run continuously.

The ride itself is a slow moving train ride that lasts for 22 minutes. It combines live actors and audio-animatronics to recreate scenes from classic films. Some films represented are Mary Poppins, Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Wizard of Oz. The section on the movie Alien might scare some younger riders.

What makes the ride popular is the live action. At one point the train's guide is forced to leave the vehicle and a shady character takes over. There are two different scenarios, a gangster and bank robber. The gangster scenario runs all day while the bank robber is usually held in the mornings and on crowded days.

The Great Movie Ride ends with the train stopping in front of a movie screen. A montage of movie clips plays, set to classic movie scores.
