Travel + Leisure unveils the World's Best Cities 2012. Guess who is #1?

Travel + Leisure unveils the World's Best Cities 2012 list chosen by savvy T & L readers for the past 17 years. I was particularly thrilled that Bangkok nabbed the No. 1 spot (for the third year in a row) since I’ll be spending a few days there next week enroute to Laos.
Travelers love the city's pulsating energy level, superb dining choices ranging from high-end fusion cuisine to some of the best street food on the planet, relaxing spa treatments that are available for pennies on the dollar, selection of gorgeous hotels ranging from trendy boutique offerings to classic luxury, and "pinch-me-I-must-be- dreaming" incredible shopping deals, all uniquely mingling with high-rise glass towers, edgy nabes, golden Buddhas and long-tail boat “buses” navigating the Chao Phraya River.

I’ll be staying at the incomparable Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok (check back for a full-report) where I already have booked a treatment at their spa, considered one of the best in the world.

For the first time, I will be in Bangkok over the weekend, so Saturday morning I’m heading straight to Chatuchak, Bangkok's biggest weekend market sporting a mere 15,000 stalls!

Does anyone has any fave stalls to recommend? If so, I would be forever grateful since trying to choose from this many peddlers sounds a bit daunting.

If you are planning a visit to this #1 rated city, I highly recommend Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) latest eMagazine which offers a comprehensive guide to Thailand, complete with articles by famous insiders sharing their favorite places to See, Play, Dine and Stay.
