Travel Goods, Gadgets & Gear: Two new duffels offer compact packing solutions

Eagle Creek recently introduced its lightweight Crossroads Collection, smart and unfussy luggage inspired by the sights, smells and sounds of far-flung journeys.

Silhouettes include upright, sport and weekender duffels, as well as the hardworking Crossroads Roll-Away 30” Duffel ($95), a large-capacity wheeled duffel that weighs just 4 lbs. 8 oz. and folds down to the size of a messenger bag. Sturdy wheels make traveling with a big load easier and the corner bumpers and Bi-Tech™ bottom help protect it against urban obstacles.

JWorld recently unveiled the Fairman ($180) a strong and sturdy duffel constructed of 500d HP Duraceltex. Offering an ABS molded bottom, full-size, U-shaped zipper opening, the Fairman has soft and noiseless wheels and a recessed locking handle with push button.

Multiple compartments keep belongings separate and organized in this 28” x 15” x 14” duffel with a #10 heavy duty nylon coil zipper. Its two available patterns of Hawaii and Cross, each accented in black, add interest.

Both duffels continue a trend in the luggage industry of enthusiastically welcoming back the utilitarian duffel, updated with a modern aesthetic that lightens – and styles – it up for modern travelers.
